Tips- creating a layout

use an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper and make a rough draft (use landscape orientation)

on your rough draft plan out:

-where your title will go

-what visuals you will use to help communicate to the reader

-where the visuals will be placed

-what labels you need to make your visual clear

-what needs to be explained and where this text will be placed

*handwritting can be used on the rough draft

create a final draft that improves upon your rough draft

-8.5"x11" clean, white piece of paper (work on one side only).

-have a 1/4" margin on your layout

-create all visuals by hand

-fill your layout with your design.  minimize open space.

-text must be typed.  you can either print the text, cut out and mount onto your layout.  The printing of text is homework (no printing from the classroom).  Or, you can create entire layout digitally at home.

-outline visuals with black

- use color

-no erasure marks (you may have to remove unwanted marks in photoshop, or by using on online image editor (for example, pixlr).
